MOUNT VERNON — A unique shop featuring all-occasion, one-of-a-kind gifts found its niche at 10 S. Main St. more than a decade ago.
Fifteen years later, it is ready to celebrate another anniversary.
Marsha Ernst, along with two fiber artist friends, Deborah Yorde and Linda Shaffer, founded Kudos, An Artist Co-op, in 2011. The three of them served as the management team. Unfortunately, Yorde and Shaffer have since passed away and are profoundly missed by Kudos members.

Although Ernst is not an artist, she is an art lover. Her son, Drew Ernst, an artist located in Hudson, NY, paints modern realism and abstract art. Her husband, Bill Ernst, is a photographer and member of Kudos.
Kudos features 24 Knox County-area artists representing a wide variety of media. The shop has no paid employees; its members do all tasks necessary to manage Kudos.
Kudos features glass, jewelry, photography, painting, ceramics, soap, bath and body products, cement, wood, metal, fiber, and candles. As such, Kudos is an excellent venue for unique handmade gifts.
Kudos extends a warm invitation to its current and new customers to join the artists on Friday, March 20, from 5 pm to 8 pm to celebrate its 15-year anniversary.
The theme is 15 Years in Bloom.
Shoppers can enjoy art, cake, wine, music by Andrew Clarkson, and community. Three lucky customers will win a Kudos raffle (must be present to win).
Tickets will be available to customers on March 20 from 5 pm to 7:25 pm, with the drawing at 7:30 pm. No purchase is necessary, but those who make a purchase will receive two additional raffle tickets.
