Roberta L. Smith, 70, of Mount Vernon passed away on March 7, 2026 at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on April 9, 1955 to Ethel Jane Scott in Columbus, OH.
Roberta worked 34 years at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center until her retirement. Following her retirement, she worked at Touch of Grace in Mount Vernon. She was a member of Mount Vernon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Roberta lived to be a caretaker of others and loved helping people whenever she could. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, gardening, and watching hummingbirds. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family.
Roberta is survived by her sons Michael (Gail) Scott of Howard, OH, Gearald M Blanton Jr of Statesville, NC; grandchildren Taylor (Thomas) Kaufman of Mount Vernon, OH, Riley (Elissa) Jones of Mount Vernon, OH, Josh Jones of Mount Vernon, OH, Trevor Jones of Mount Vernon, OH, Hayden Blanton of Brinkhaven, OH and many extended family members.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Terry ‘Steve’ Steven Smith, her parents and a granddaughter Jacey Blanton.
There will be a celebration of life at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses, 189 Mansfield Avenue, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2:00pm with Raymond Smith officiating. The service will be available via Zoom. Zoom ID: 699 101 9753 Passcode: 119105
