MOUNT VERNON — A Knox County Grand Jury indicted a Knox County juvenile on Monday in the stabbing death of his father.

The indictment charges 17-year-old Brice Hay with aggravated murder and murder. Both charges are unclassified felonies.

The charges stem from the death of his father, Kevin Hay, who was killed on Dec. 9, 2025.

Authorities responded to a call of suicide or attempted suicide at Kevin Hay’s King Road residence in Howard around 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 9.

They found Kevin Hay on the floor inside the door with multiple stab wounds.

Authorities arrested Brice Hay and transported him to the Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Center. He has remained there since his arrest.

The grand jury handed down 11 other indictments on Monday.

Olin L. Stewart, Cleveland, domestic violence, fourth-degree felony; previous domestic violence conviction in Akron Municipal Court.

Jayna R. Ray, Fredericktown, assault on a peace officer, fourth-degree felony.

Daniel C. Dilger, Mount Vernon, burglary, second-degree felony; and assault, first-degree misdemeanor.

Tyler D. Grubaugh, Mount Vernon, strangulation, knowing that the victim was pregnant at the time, third-degree felony; domestic violence, knowing that the victim was pregnant at the time, fifth-degree felony; and falsification, first-degree misdemeanor.

Jared T. Baldwin, Mount Vernon, burglary, third-degree felony; theft, first-degree misdemeanor; and safe-cracking, fourth-degree felony.

Terresa A. Morey, Mount Vernon, assault on a peace officer, fourth-degree felony; harassment with bodily substance, fifth-degree felony; and obstructing official business, fifth-degree felony.

Dustin W. Shook, address unknown, receiving stolen property, fifth-degree felony.

Donald R. Kennedy Jr, Mount Vernon, aggravated possession of drugs, fifth-degree felony.

Kenneth E. Sweet, Mount Vernon, receiving stolen property, fifth-degree felony.

Michael L. Flanagan, Newark, theft from Lowe’s, fifth-degree felony.

Heidi S. Dible, Mount Vernon, burglary, second-degree felony; assault, first-degree misdemeanor; and assault on a peace officer, fourth-degree felony.
