Larry Bryan Shannon, age 61, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, with his son, Gavin, by his side.
Larry was the son of James and Betty (Llewellyn) Shannon. Larry graduated from Centerburg High School. He worked as an auto mechanic but was considered a jack of all trades. Larry often completed side jobs and enjoyed spending time buying old cars, fixing them up with his father and selling them. Larry also worked hard to maintain the 11-acre property his parents owned where the Shannon family made many wonderful memories over 4 generations.
Most of all, Larry cherished his family, kids and grandkids. Larry found so much joy in the visits from his grandkids, going on scenic car rides with his son Gavin, and making plans of what he wanted to do in life. Although life dealt him with difficulties, led by his faith and love, Larry always sought joy and happiness in all situations. Larry was a devoted son, father and sibling. A man of faith who leaned heavy on the Lord. Larry was an incredible role model of what it meant to give and love unconditionally.
Larry is preceded in death by parents James and Betty Shannon, and siblings Teresa Snelling and Jim Shannon. He is survived by his kids Gavin Shannon, Kevin Shannon and Colleen (Shannon) Massoth, grandkids Carter and Warren Shannon, and his brother Doug Shannon. The Shannon Family tree branches out further and though not all are listed, all are remembered.
Friends and family may gather Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 11am to 12pm at Snyder Funeral Homes, Lasater Chapel 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Mound View Cemetery.
