William (Bill) Merle Hunter, 78, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, after a brief illness. He was born on November 2, 1947, in Mount Vernon to the late William Martin Hunter and Ruth (Gilt) Hunter. He was a graduate of East Knox High School. He and his wife Christina (Oxciano) were married for 38 years. They moved to Winter Haven, Florida, six years ago with their daughter, Laura (Hunter), Roddy, son-in-law Vince Roddy, and granddaughter, Sarah.
He is survived by his wife, Christina; daughter Laura; granddaughter Sarah; son-in-law Vince Roddy; three sisters Gladys Hunter, Christina (Hunter) Wooden, Roxanne (Hunter) Hart and brother-in-law Kenneth Hart.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother James Hunter.
A funeral mass for Bill will be held on Sunday, March 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Vincent De Paul Church, 303 East High Street, Mount Vernon.
