Ted W. Metcalfe, age 78, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.

He was born on April 28, 1947, in Mount Vernon to the late L. Bernard and Sally (Newton) Metcalfe. Ted was employed for over 33 years at American National Can. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4027, Amvets Post #95, Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #760 Mount Vernon. Ted enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed collecting Cushman Scooters and traveling to scooter shows throughout the country. Most recently, Ted enjoyed spending time with his buddies at the VFW. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his son Tad (Valerie) Metcalfe; five grandchildren, Lexi Croswell, Kassandra (Brandon) Main, Jeffery (Grace) Dovenbarger, Brooklyn Dovenbarger, Leandra Metcalfe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca Ann Metcalfe and his brother Tod Metcalfe.

In keeping with Ted’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private gathering at a later date.
