Bonnie Lee Newton, age 93, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on her birthday, Friday, February 6, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 6, 2026, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the daughter of Mason and Dora (Staffan) Talbott.
Bonnie previously worked at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center and retired in 1995 after 17 years of employment with Kenyon College.
Bonnie enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Florida during the wintertime of Ohio, baking, running and riding her bike when she could. Bonnie also enjoyed crocheting and has made several Afghans for family members.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Vicki Whiteley of Mount Vernon, Brenda Newton of Mount Vernon, Joseph (Marcia) Newton, and Teresa Newton of Mount Vernon, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Newton, a son, Michael Newton, a grandson, William “Billy” Dickerson, three brothers, Jesse Talbott, Dean Talbott, Menno Talbott, four sisters, Ruby Latham, Helen Hall, Naomi Payne, and Ruth Peters.
There will be no services. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Bonnie Lee Newton.
