Charles M. Shaffer, 73 of Mount Vernon, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born on September 24, 1952 to Donald and Mary (Kremple) Shaffer in Mount Vernon, OH.
Charles worked for ODOT as a Transportation Manager. He enjoyed hunting, operating heavy equipment and always willing to lend a helping hand. Charles was an Over The Road Truck Driver prior to working for ODOT. Charles enjoyed vacationing in the Smoky Mountains with his wife Mary. The most important thing to Charles was spending time with his family.
Charles is survived by his wife Mary (Hunt) Shaffer; children Rick (Carla) Shaffer of Mount Vernon, OH, Elizabeth (Jeff) Carius of Fredericktown, OH, Chuck Shaffer of Mount Vernon, OH; grandchildren Darrian (Jodeci) Edwards of Mount Vernon, OH and Tara (Cody Starr) Shisler of Danville, OH; great grandson Jace Edwards; siblings Gary Shaffer of Mount Vernon, OH, Pat (Sue Merritt) Shaffer of Fredericktown, OH, Tammy Mizer of Fredericktown, OH, Tina Shaffer of Mount Vernon, OH and Debbie (Tony) Emerine of Mount Vernon, OH and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no services at this time for Charles.
