Larry Edwin Daubenspeck
Larry passed quietly and peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday morning, January 28. Holding faithfully onto the hand of his wife of 37 years Kathy Hagan Daubenspeck.
Larry was born on January 11, 1941 to Roy Edwin Daubenspeck and Elizabeth Jane Holbrook Daubenspeck.
Larry was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ for many years where he taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served as deacon and elder. At the time of his passing, he was a current member of the First Presbyterian Church on Gay Street in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Larry graduated from Fredericktown high school in 1960. He had also attended Mount Vernon high school as well as the Mount Vernon business school. Larry was a hard-working man who mastered many trades beginning his career as a salesman and moving onto a glass cutter with PPG industries and then a laborer with American National can. At one point in his life, he worked three jobs including the Knox County Auditor’s office, RowOil company, as well as running his photography business Dob’s Photo for 35 years.
All of this hard work while still enjoying time with his loved ones. Some of the happiest of his 85 years were spent fishing camping, canoeing, and hunting! He loved going to bluegrass festivals and playing his banjo and mandolin. Larry was an avid fly fisherman, fishing rod builder and was amazing at Fly tying. He was a member of the Land of Legend Fly Fishers Club and he loved introducing the sport to new members. As well as many children’s fishing events. His 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren have all received a lesson or more from DoDah!
Larry is survived by wife Kathy, Son Jim (Jennifer), daughter Courtney Laine (Mark) Smith, sons Troy (Barbie) Savage, Shannon (Karen) Savage. 2 sisters Jane E. Davis, Beth Ann (Ben) Staats, and his brother Gary N (Betty) Daubenspeck and all of those beautiful grandchildren!
He was preceded in Death by his parents and his sister Joan Clipse.
His life will be celebrated in the Spring when the birds are singing, and the fish are once again biting!
He will be remembered for his remarkable faith and love of everyone around him!
Larry wants you all too remember “you can never have too many friends too much love or too much money” as he never did!
The family have a celebration of life service at a later date.
