MOUNT VERNON — CES Credit Union has announced Mike Copley as its next president and chief executive officer.

Copley, who has been a key leader at CES for more than a decade, stepped into the role following the planned retirement of Sandy Coffing in late 2025 after over 30 years working at the credit union. The board and employees of CES Credit Union are grateful for her many years of dedication as she begins her next chapter.

With Copley’s experience, steady leadership, and strong connection to the CES team and community, the organization is well-positioned for its next phase of growth and service.

Copley’s appointment reflects the board’s confidence in his leadership and long-standing commitment to CES Credit Union.

“Having worked with Mike over the years, we have known him to be very dedicated to CES and brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. We look forward to working with him for the continued success of our Credit Union for many years to come,” Board Chair Jeff Wells said.

Since joining CES Credit Union in 2011, Copley has taken on increasing leadership responsibilities across the organization. Most recently, he served as chief operations officer. In that role, he oversaw daily operations, branch performance, member experience, compliance, and organizational initiatives.

Before stepping into that role, he served as service center manager, building strong member relationships and supporting teams through ongoing growth and change. He has also been active in community service roles, including Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce for Mount Vernon and Knox County.

‘An honor of a lifetime’

Before joining CES, Copley worked in community banking, gaining experience in operations, financial management, compliance, and customer service. He holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration from Muskingum University, is a Certified Credit Union Executive through Credit Union National Association, and is a graduate of Leadership Knox and Leadership Delaware.

“It is the honor of a lifetime to lead CES Credit Union into the future as its next president and CEO. Since joining CES in 2011, I have witnessed firsthand the credit union’s unwavering dedication to our members and the communities we serve. I am deeply grateful to our Board of Directors for their trust and confidence in me to continue advancing that mission,” Copley said of his new role.

“The care our team shows for our members, and for one another, is what truly makes CES special. Together, we will build on our strong foundation, live out the philosophy of ‘People Helping People,’ and achieve great things for those who place their trust in us.”

Copley’s leadership begins as CES continues to expand its reach and strengthen its role in the central Ohio region. With $235 million in assets and more than 17,000 members across eight counties, the credit union will continue building on the momentum of recent years—expanding access, growing community relationships, and supporting members through every stage of their financial lives.

Founded in 1952 in Mount Vernon, Ohio, CES Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative serving individuals across central Ohio. CES is dedicated to supporting the financial well-being of its members and communities through personalized service, trusted guidance, and the credit union philosophy of People Helping People.
