Richard L. “Rich” Hardwick—loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend—went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

He was born on February 2, 1947, in Bremen, Ohio, to the late Robert and Ruth (McCall) Hardwick.

Rich was a kindhearted and hardworking man who found joy in helping others, especially by mowing yards for friends and neighbors throughout the years. He was formerly employed at Chattanooga Glass Company, retired from the Mount Vernon Developmental Center, and also worked as a driver for New Hope Industries.

He was a faithful member of Brandon Baptist Church and belonged to Amvets Post 95 and Colonial Moose Lodge 2555. Rich lived his life with gratitude and faith, and he was especially thankful to have been blessed as a kidney transplant recipient on two separate occasions, a gift that meant a great deal to him and his family.

Rich is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Hardwick; his daughter, Jennifer Hardwick; and his step-son, Brad (Tonya) Porter. He was a proud grandfather to Breanna (Dani) Davis, Andrew (Sara) Davis, and Jesse (Aramaika) Edmundson; and step-grandfather to Brandon (Courtney) Porter and Weston Porter. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Reese, Ryleigh Sue, Sophia, and Grayson, who brought him much joy.

Rich will be remembered for his generous spirit, strong faith, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy of kindness and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

There will be no services. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Richard Hardwick.
