MOUNT VERNON — In April, Dr. Frederick Carroll took a leave of absence from his Knox Community Hospital practice while the State Medical Board of Ohio investigated sexual impropriety allegations.
At the time, Carroll’s attorney, Beth Collis of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, said the medical board set a hearing for Oct. 1 and 2.
However, the board has not yet conducted the hearing. Collis referred questions to the medical board. The board did not respond by the time of publication. But when readers asked, we checked in. Here’s what we found:
Carroll, a Gambier resident, joined Knox Community Hospital in 2014.

The hospital contracted with Dr. Tanner Boes to cover Carroll’s practice in the internal medicine clinic at 1661 Venture Dr. while he is on leave. Boes’ contract ended Dec. 19.
“We’re not able to bring in another one, so the team has been working to redistribute patients to other practices,” Hospital CEO Bruce White said.
“Some of the other services being conducted out of there are being relocated to other facilities.”
Effective Jan. 5, 2026, the internal medicine clinic will move to the Knox Medical Pavilion, Suite A. The infectious disease clinic will move to the Knox Medical Center.
Patients should call 740-397-2915 if they have questions for Jackie Neighbarger, CNP, internal medicine, and 740-326-3535 if they have questions regarding Dr. Bhat, infectious disease.
In addition, effective Dec. 22, Ami Frost, APRN-CNP, weight management, moved to Suite 2B in the Knox Medical Pavilion. The pavilion is located across from the emergency department.
White said the hospital has notified patients and others affected by the relocations.
The hospital also posted the information on its website and social media.
