Mark Allen Overton, 62 of Utica passed away on December 2, 2025 at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on November 1, 1963 in Newark, OH to the late James and Betty (Workman) Overton.
Mark graduated from Newark High School in 1982. He served honorably in the U.S Army and retired after 30 years from Defense Finance and Accounting Service. He attended New Life Nazarene Church in Mt. Vernon. He was a former Utica Middle Schools girls basketball coach and enjoyed bass fishing and playing chess. He was an avid OSU fan and coin collector. He was also a chicken wing connoisseur (Rooster’s drums dry) and was always in pursuit of “Big Foot”.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Tammy (Nethers) Overton; daughters, Mandy Overton and Kelly Overton; grandson, Colt Hanes; brother, Bobby Overton; step-sister, Diana Boatwright; special cousin, Valerie (Kevin) Workman; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James “Jimmy” Overton, Jr.; and sister, Deborah Sue Maharg.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Brucker-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor Troy McNichols officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance.
