Lewis Dean Streby, 98, of Fredericktown passed away on November 14, 2025 at Country Court Skilled Nursing in Mount Vernon, OH. He was born on July 18, 1927 in Fredericktown, OH.
Dean was a WWII US Navy Veteran. He was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Fredericktown, OH. Dean has served the community in multiple ways starting with 38 years as a mail carrier. After retiring from the postal service, Dean worked for the Dana Corporation another 18 years, the Fredericktown Local Schools and First Knox National Bank as a courier.
All along the way, Dean volunteered to multiple organizations–coaching Little League, filming games for the Athletic Departments, helping build and maintain the football stadium, taking care of the officials and promoting the Fredericktown School District and community in various ways. Jane and Dean were chosen to be the Grand Marshalls of the Tomato Show Parade in 2010.
Also, Dean helped with the Tomato Show Parade for many years, was a former member of the Lion’s club where he served as President, was member of the Athletic Boosters where he served as past president and is a member of the American Legion. For 18 years Dean was an usher for THE Ohio State University football games.
Dean is survived by his children Laurie Stelts of Mount Vernon, OH, Joni (Debra) Rhoads of Wilmington, NC, Mike (Wendy) Streby of Gahanna, OH; grandchildren Jason Stelts, Michael (Jen) Stelts, Pete (Laura) Rhoads, Morgan Streby, Kenzie Streby; great grandchildren Jessilyn, Jaelynn and Jeffrey; step granddaughter Carrie (Chris) Banks and many extended family members.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife Sara Jane (Pearl) Streby, brothers Richard Streby, Wendell Streby and a daughter Carole Casto.

Calling hours will be Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Cornerstone Community Church, 123 Columbus Road, Fredericktown, OH 43019. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00pm. A private burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown, OH.
