KNOX COUNTY — Knox County residents returned 136.8 pounds of unused, unwanted and expired medications on Oct. 25 during the DEA National Drug Take Back Day.
Collection totals by location were:
— 63 pounds at Knox Public Health and the Mount Vernon Health Center.
— 16 pounds at the Danville Police Department.
— 38 pounds at the Fredericktown Police Department.
— 19.8 pounds at Foster’s Pharmacy in Centerburg.
Communities Coming Together, formerly the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team, extends sincere appreciation to the Fredericktown Police Department, Danville Police Department, Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Mount Vernon Police Department for leading each drop-off site.
For residents who missed Drug Take Back Day, year-round, anonymous drop-boxes are available at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Fredericktown Police Department, Danville Police Department, and Mount Vernon Police Department.
To dispose of medications properly, place them in a clear Ziploc bag. Please do not place liquids, inhalers, syringes, or illegal substances in the drop-boxes.
