“When I no longer thrill to the first snow of the season, I’ll know I’m growing old.” — Lady Bird Johnson, former First Lady
It may end up being just a dusting.
But more than a month before winter officially begins on Dec. 21, north central Ohio may see its first snowfall of the season Sunday night and into Monday.
The National Weather Service office in Cleveland has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the entire region based upon that forecast, including Richland, Ashland and Knox counties.
Light accumulating snowfall could impact the Monday morning commute to work and school with predictions of two to five inches possible in the immediate area — more up around Lake Erie.
Rain will continue Sunday until around 3 p.m., transitioning to snow showers around 4 p.m. as temperatures drop.
With a high temperature of 42 today, little or no accumulation is expected Sunday. It will be windy with gusts up to 24 miles per hour.
Snow showers are forecast Sunday night as the low drops to 28. The NWS said accumulation of less than an inch is possible.
Snow will continue Monday, mainly before 1 p.m., with a high reaching only 34. Another one to two inches is possible, according to the NWS.
Snow is also expected into Monday night with a low around 21 degrees and about half an inch of new accumulation.
It will be dry, but cold, on Veterans Day with a high near 36 and wind gusts up to 28 miles per hour.
