From small business shopping to twinkling lights and visits with Santa, thereโs something for everyone. The events take place on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30.
Saturday, Nov. 29
Downtown merchants will once again host Shop Small Saturday on Nov. 29.
Residents can support local businesses and discover unique gifts throughout the downtown during this nationwide celebration of shopping small.ย Experience Mount Vernon is an American Express Neighborhood Champion.
Sunday, Nov. 30
A variety of events await visitors on Sunday.
Holiday Memories Photo Booth: 1:30-6:30 pm
Located in the lower lobby of the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel, visitors can create lasting memories with free photos before and after the parade. The site will also serve as a Food for the Hungry collection point.
Annual Holiday Parade:ย 4 pm
Enjoy dazzling floats inspired by your favorite holiday stories on South Main Street.
This yearโs parade theme, โOnce Upon a Holiday,โ invites participants to bring their favorite winter, holiday, or Christmas storybook to life. Fromย The Grinchย andย The Polar Expressย toย A Christmas Carolย andย Frosty the Snowman, parade entries are encouraged to reimagine holiday classics with creativity, community spirit, and plenty of holiday magic. Lighting of Public Square: 5 pm
Watch the heart of the city come alive with the glow of holiday lights in this cherished community tradition.
Pictures with Santa: 5:30-7 pm
Meet Santa and capture magical moments in the lower level of the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel. Free event. It is a Food for the Hungry collection point.
Santa will also be at the Grant Hotel on Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Festival of Lights Holiday Lighting Competition
Voting is open Dec. 12-14 for the Festival of Lights Holiday Lighting Competition.
Experience the twinkle and creativity of Mount Vernonโs homes and businesses as they compete in the festive community lighting contest.
