Bruce Mitchell Waters passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 27, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Evers Waters; his brother, Harold; his sister, Thaya; and his grandson, A.J.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Pam Waters, his high school sweetheart; sons Scott (Lori) Waters and Mark (Erin) Waters; grandchildren Alexa (Matt) Fisher, Tori (Jody), Emily (Tonio), Elliana, and Everson; and great-grandson Henry.
A graduate of Stow High School, Class of 1965, Bruce proudly served in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam. Following his military service, he began a distinguished career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, earning numerous awards and honors. The pinnacle of his career came when he became an aviator for the Patrol—combining his lifelong passion for flying with his dedication to public service. Bruce also owned and piloted private planes, enjoying countless adventures with friends and family.
After retiring from the Patrol, Bruce continued his journey on the open road, working with Richert Trucking Company—embracing the freedom and rhythm of life behind the wheel.
A talented drummer, Bruce played in various bands over the years—ranging from rock and drum corps to easy listening. He adored his dogs, cherished the peaceful life he built with Pam in their dream log home, and lived every day with gratitude, honor, and integrity.
Bruce will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, loyal friend, and a man of unwavering character. He lived a full, meaningful life—and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life of service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions in Bruce’s name may be made to the Knox County Animal Shelter, 285 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.
