MOUNT VERNON — Remember grade school and “show and tell?” That’s what we are doing on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Knox County History Museum, 875 Harcourt Road.
We invite anyone to bring an item connected to Knox County’s past and to share its history at the program. What have you or your family saved from Knox County’s past? What stories are attached to the item, or what memories does it bring back?
This is a new venture for the Knox County Historical Society. We thought it would be fun to see what “treasures” we all have and offer attendees the opportunity to share the stories that the items represent. Start looking around the house to see what you can bring.
The history of Knox County lives in the stories its residents tell. Please come and share some of them with us. And if you do not have anything to share, come anyway. It is perfectly acceptable to listen to others and enjoy what they have to say.
This program will conclude our Fall 2025 season. At the end of November, the museum will close over the winter, other than by appointment, and will resume regular open hours—Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.—in March 2026.
Public programs will resume at the museum on the first Wednesday of March 2026 at 7:30 p.m. If you have a suggestion or request for a program topic, please let us know.
The program is free and open to the public, and visitors are welcome to browse the museum for 30 minutes before and after the program. All persons interested in area history are invited to attend. For more information, call the museum at 740-393-5247 or email knoxcountyhistory@gmail.com.
