MOUNT VERNON —  Knox Community Hospital is proud to announce that Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services, awarded The Center for Wound Healing the prestigious Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Clinical Excellence Award.

The center scored in the top 10 percent of eligible Healogics® Wound Care Centers® on the Clinical Excellence measure, which is the Comprehensive Healing Rate weighted by wound mix.

The Center for Wound Healing is a member of the Healogics network of over 600 Wound Care Centers®  and offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds.

KCH’s wound care experts provide advanced wound care modalities, including negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies.

The Center for Wound Healing also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which surrounds the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help accelerate wound healing.

“Being the only wound care center in the county means we serve a critical role,” said Vicki Kildoo, director of the KCH Center for Wound Healing. “The quality care we provide to patients benefits the entire community. When wounds are healed, our patients can resume their daily activities and enjoy productive lives again.”

To receive the award, centers must excel in patient satisfaction at 92 percent or higher, have a comprehensive healing rate of 77 percent or above, and have an outlier rate of 16 percent or less.

“We are so proud of our team for their continued and consistent commitment to excellence and focus on creating an exceptional patient experience,” Kildoo said.

The award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former chief medical officer for Healogics.
