Barbara “Taylor” Wood, age 82, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She was born on March 2, 1943, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Donald and Edith (Mizer) Taylor.

Barbara was a member of the Mount Vernon Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She was a member of the Knox Chapter #236 of the Ohio Eastern Star. Barbara graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1961. She loved tacos, sewing, listening to classical music, watching 3ABN on TV and going for walks in the sunshine in her wheelchair.

Barbara is survived by a nephew, Matthew (Kathryn Hinton) Barnes; cousins, Glen (Bonnie) Coon, Terry Hogue, Stan Tyson, Tom Tyson, Lois Stringfellow and Brenda Pursel; and many dear friends, including her longtime friend Marge Paden.

Along with her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ted” Wood, they married on August 22, 1980; a sister, Beverly (Steven) Barnes; nephews, Erick and Bruce Barnes; and cousins Carol Ann Swain and Terry Tyson.

A special thanks for their loving care of Barbara prior to her residence at Ohio Eastern Star Homes to Mona Morehouse, Barbie Cluck, and Yolanda Coyl. Also, a special thanks to all Ohio Eastern Star nurses, aids, and care assistants that were involved in Barbara’s care at the facility and to Capital City Hospice and their staff.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 12 PM until the time of funeral service starting at 1 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home; 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050 with Pastor Jeff Wehr officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Ohio.
