MOUNT VERNON — A woman indicted in Lawrence County, Tenn., for second-degree murder in the death of her husband was in the Knox County Jail on Thursday, awaiting extradition to Tennessee.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Jocelyn Rose Maddox on Wednesday after a KCSO detective saw Maddox driving a black Chevrolet Impala in the area of Verndale and Hillcrest drives.
The detective stopped the vehicle and Maddox was taken into custody without incident at 1:43 p.m.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Maddox allegedly caused injuries to her husband in June 2023 at their home in the 5500 block of Gimlet Road in Lawrenceburg. The injuries ultimately resulted in the death of 37-year-old James Maddox.
TBI agents also said Maddox allegedly attempted to run her husband over with a vehicle several months earlier.
On Tuesday, a Lawrence County grand jury indicted Maddox on one count of second-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault.
According to the TBI, 22nd Judicial District Attorney General Brent Cooper asked TBI agents to join the ongoing investigation into James Maddox’s death.
Voter registration records at the Knox County Board of Elections list a Jocelyn Rose Maddox living in Gambier.
The Mount Vernon Police Department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in the arrest of Maddox.
