Kyle Benjamin Nugent, 44, of Mount Vernon, recently died unexpectedly at his residence. He was born Sept. 14, 1981 to Ken and Kelly (Jacquet) in Mount Vernon.
Kyle was a 2000 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and received a bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Cincinnati in 2004. For the past 20 years he worked in the University Archives at The Ohio State University.
Kyle was very athletic—making life-long friends playing baseball at Phillips Park. Recently, he practiced Jiu Jitsu and was an avid runner, participating in many 5k races in Central Ohio. He and his dad took several scuba diving trips to the Florida Keys and Cozumel and Cancun, Mexico. Kyle was also an exceptional musician. He played drums, guitar, and sang starting in middle school with his rock band, Two Vital Words. His current band, High Handed, could be heard playing gigs all over Central Ohio. In addition to music, the other loves of his life were his two daughters. He was a proud and adorning father.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Ava Sage of Athens, OH and Penny Rose of Delaware, OH; a sister, Kelsey (Joe) Cohen of Ossining, New York, a nephew, Sam Cohen; a niece, Meadow Cohen; an uncle, Tracey Jacquet of Mount Vernon, an aunt, Lynn (Kenneth) Carrick of North Ridgeville, OH; and the mother of his children, Lisa (Burgan) Nugent of Delaware, OH.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Norma (Newton) Jacquet; his paternal grandparents, Duane and Juanita (Sheldon) Nugent and an uncle, D. Benjamin Nugent.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Memorial Gardens, 18260 Coshocton Rd., Mount Vernon. Afterwards, there will be a gathering at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Lasater Chapel Community Room, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd., Mount Vernon please use the side door.
