Donald E. Hinkens, 94, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon surrounded by his family. He was born on July 13, 1931 in Mount Vernon to the late Charles and Myrtle (Hissong) Hinkens.
Donald worked for Chattanooga Glass in Mount Vernon as a welder. He enjoyed stock car races and at one point he owned his own stock car. Donald loved spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his children, Michael (Darlene) Hinkens and Mark (Pamela) Hinkens; grandchildren, Mike (Beth) Hinkens, Daniel (Alissa) Hinkens, and Nichole (Jared) Robbins; and great grandchildren, Kendall, Morgan, Bryce, and Gianna; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla (Mickey) Hinkens; a grandson, Aaron Hinkens; sisters, Dorothy Howard and Thelma Holmes; and his brother, Charles Hinkens.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon with Mr. Roger Marra officiating. Donald will be laid to rest beside his wife, Priscilla, at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
