FREDERICKTOWN — The 48th Fredericktown Tomato Show kicked off Wednesday with 19 little tomato-like princesses laughing and smiling from ear to ear during the Little Miss Tomato contest.

The 6-year-old contestants wore bright red ball gowns in front of a large crowd on Main Street.

Friends and relatives cheered as they worked every possible angle for a picture or funny video of their little one on stage.

Once every entrant found her little red plastic seat, the host asked each contestant some hard-hitting questions in one-on-one interviews.

The well-mannered contestants often energetically and humorously answered questions like “What did you do this summer?” or “How many pets do you have?” as bystanders had a laugh.

After a dance party featuring a bubble machine, each contestant got some hardware to take home.

However, Kacey Mason, shaking with excitement, took home the big trophy and title of Little Miss Tomato 2025.

Mason’s favorite part of the Fredericktown Tomato Show is the floats. Now being Little Miss Tomato, she’ll be smiling and waving from one of those very floats in Saturday’s parade.

“Well, it’s a new tradition [to us] that we’re definitely going to be partaking in all aspects of the tomato show, whereas before, we were just part of the parade normally,” Katie Mason, Kacey’s mom, said.

“It’s super exciting to get more involved in the community and see more of what Fredericktown has to offer.”
