On August 23, 2025, Billy “Bill” Eugene Fields, age 78, of Howard, went home to meet his Savior after a brief illness.
He was born on December 20, 1946, in Millstone, Kentucky to the late Robert and Arzella (Calhoun) Fields.
Bill was a 1965 Mansfield Senior High School graduate. After his graduation, he retired as a welder after 40 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. In addition to his outdoor pastimes, Bill was a very godly man. With his devotion to the Lord, he was active in several area churches and a founder in the New Life Church. In addition to his passion for the Lord, he loved his family and adored the time spent with his children, his 20 plus grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Barbara (Yunker) Fields; sons, Scott (Kim) Fields, Shane (Kathy) Fields, Skyler (Carla) Fields and Sherrod (Rachael) Fields; step-children, Tom (Diana) Yunker, Chris (Scott) Carpenter, Tim (Gia) Yunker and Troy (Dee) Yunker; grandchildren, Austin, Ethan, Trevor, Katie, Kara, Travis, Sidney, Makenzie, Courtlyn, Allyson, Holly, Franco, Minka and Annika Fields, Michaela Law, Bryton Carpenter, Abi Yunker, Nate Yunker, Emma Munoz, Seth Yunker, Riley Yunker, Owen Yunker; great-grandchildren, Nova Browley, Noelle Law, Liam Law and Amelia Carpenter; sisters, Cindy Edwards and Ada Gilligan; brothers and sisters-in-laws; Ken and Joyce Hubert and Jim and Vera Bridges; along with many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Judy Fields; sisters, Bobbie Steele and Barbara Daniels; brother, Carroll Fields; grandsons, Tyler and Colton Fields.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Home-Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be Friday – 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 20191 Wooster Rd in Danville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
