MOUNT VERNON – Knox County Job and Family Services is giving families who have not yet applied one last opportunity to secure back-to-school assistance vouchers during an extended application event scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025.
The application-only event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, located at 807 Coshocton Avenue in Mount Vernon.
Officials emphasize this represents the final opportunity for families who have not previously applied to secure assistance for the upcoming school year.
“Back-to-School vouchers are still available for those who haven’t applied. This is your final opportunity to apply.”
Who can apply
Families seeking assistance must meet specific eligibility requirements. Children must be between 3 and 18 years old and currently attending school.
Applicants must also live in Knox County and meet income guidelines by self-certifying that their household income falls below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
All applications must be submitted in person by a parent or guardian. No exceptions will be made for this requirement.
Required documentation
Applicants must bring photo identification for the parent or guardian, along with Social Security numbers for both the parent/guardian and all children who would benefit from the program.
Program limitations
Knox County Job & Family Services officials emphasize that applications and funding are limited and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The June 30 event is strictly for applications – no vouchers will be distributed on–site.
Families who apply will receive approval or denial letters in the mail within 30 days of the application event. Approved applicants will receive detailed instructions on how to collect their vouchers along with their approval notification.
The vouchers can be used to purchase essential school items including clothing and school supplies, helping to ease the financial burden many families face as the new school year approaches.
The Back to School Assistance Program is one of several community support services offered by Knox
County Job and Family Services throughout the year.
