Gayle Ellen Ruse, age 64, of Howard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at her home.
She was born on September 22, 1960, in Mount Vernon to Raymond and Donna (Baker) Nicholls.
Gayle loved gardening and was known for her flowers. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Her home was always open, and she was a gracious hostess. Everyone was Welcome!!!
Being a teacher, she touched many students’ lives. The graduating senior class of Danville 2025 paid her a visit at her home in her final days including the principle, superintendent, teachers, teacher’s aide, and parents. Gayle’s advise to them was, “Be kind in all you do!”
Gayle also enjoyed puzzles and taking boat rides on “her” Apple Valley Lake. At all times her music could be heard playing. She enjoyed dancing and would break into song and dance every moment she could. Gayle believed in God and kept her faith throughout her illness. A beautiful heart and spirit is now with her Savior.
Gayle is survived by her son, Dean Ruse; her mother, Donna Nicholls; sisters, Kimberly (Nancy Morton) Nicholls and Deanna (Bill) Bennett; along with nephews, Aaron and Alex Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Nicholls.
A celebration of life service is being planned and will be announced.
