Betty Jean Foster, age 98, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Morrow Manor Nursing Home in Chesterville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 9, 1927, the daughter of Bernard and Betty (Pearson) Foster in Tupelo, Mississippi. A native of Greenville, Mississippi, she graduated from Meridian Junior College and Transylvania College. Jean later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from the Conservatory of Music.

She would move on to earn her master’s degree in music education and teach music in the Danville School System for over twenty years. Jean was a member of First Congregation United Church of Christ where she served as the choir director for 45 years.

Jean is survived by her sons, Sean (Dawn) Foster, Kevin (Darlene Saunders) Foster, five grandchildren, Christopher Foster, Erica (Charles) Kinsey, Shayne Foster, Tristan Foster, and Aaron (Brittany) Foster, six grandchildren, Kaiya, Cora, and Alex Kinsey, Bella, Liam, and Jaylen Foster.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Foster and a great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, beginning at 2 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Betty Jean Foster.
