Charles N. McDonald, age 86, of Fredericktown passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at his home.
He was born on April 11, 1939, in Knox County, Ohio to the late Arthur and Irene (Carter) McDonald. Charles was a 1958 graduate of Amity High School where he was the Class Vice President his junior year, FFA for 4 years, Treasurer his senior year, Junior Class Play, Senior Class Play and Student Council his senior year. He was baptized on May 18, 1941. Charles was a member of the Bow Hunters Association, Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #760 – Mount Vernon, Volunteer fireman for College Monroe Twp. For over 29 years, Amvets Post #95 and the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555. Charles was a veteran, serving in the United States Army. He enjoyed bow hunting, mushroom hunting, camping and bluegrass festivals. But most of all Charles loved the time he spent with his loving family and close friends.
He is survived by his daughter Dolores McDonald; his son Jerry Dean McDonald; three grandchildren, Katrina McDonald, Adrian McDonald, Lauren Pagani; a great granddaughter Amariah McDonald; his sisters, Kathleen Hunter, Marcina McFadden, Marcella Graham, Joyce McDonald; and his brothers, Darrell (Karen) McDonald and Neil (Patty) McDonald.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife Shaila McDonald; his son Myron Ghetti McDonald; and his brothers Eddie, Carl, Robert and Glen McDonald.
Friends may call on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5pm-7pm at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home (201 Newark Rd, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050). A service will be held on Tuesday, beginning at 11am, at the funeral home with Mr. Eric Hall officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
