GAMBIER — Building on the tremendous growth and business investment in the central Ohio region, Kenyon College has received a $25 million gift from financial technology entrepreneur Matthew Voorhees that will power innovation in the liberal arts.
Vorhees, a former Kenyon English major turned industry leader, knows firsthand how transformative a liberal arts education can be. His investment in the college’s future will launch a new initiative that connects interdisciplinary learning with hands-on experiences and aims to equip graduates for success in a complex and changing world.
Alex Wright, CEO of Ariel Corp., Knox County’s largest employer, is a Kenyon trustee and 2005 graduate who shares the same steadfast commitment to the limitless potential of a liberal arts education. In December of last year, the Wright family committed $5.8 million to endow funds for Kenyon students to intern in Ohio and for Kenyon students from Ohio to intern anywhere, among other investments to strengthen the College’s ties to the region.Â
