Wendy Sue Bowden, age 63, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. She was born on September 3, 1961, in Kearney, Nebraska, the daughter of Gary Mathiasen and Isabel Carol (Madsen) Valen. Wendy was a 1980 graduate of Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, California and later earned a degree from Ohlone Junior College in California.
Wendy would later graduate from Beauty School in California and worked in the cosmetology field for years. While in high school she was a member of the Campfire Girls where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed drawing, playing the piano and was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants professional baseball team.
She is survived by her children, Robert Bowden of Nevada, and Jackelin Bowden of Virginia, her parents, a brother, Michael (Deborah) Mathiasen of Nevada and a sister, Peggy (Tim) Estes of California.
Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugene and Isabel Madsen and Phillip and Genevieve Traut.
The family will observe private services at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Wendy Sue Bowden.
