APPLE VALLEY — A man is in the Knox County Jail after he was arrested in the wake of an alleged home invasion in Apple Valley on March 27.
Dominic Antonio McDonald, 29, was arrested by Knox County Sheriff’s deputies around 6:30 a.m. after a three-hour hostage situation at an Apple Valley residence.
On March 28, McDonald’s bond was set at $100,000 without a 10% option, according to Mount Vernon Municipal Court records. As of April 2, McDonald remained in custody, acorrding to the court’s online website.
A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for April 7.
According to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office press release, McDonald forcibly entered an Apple Valley home at 3 a.m. armed with a knife. After entering the home, McDonald took two individuals hostage, the release states.
Deputies responded to the scene and established a perimeter while de-escalating the immediate threat.
According to the release, specially trained tactical officers from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Mount Vernon Police Department arrived on the scene to negotiate with McDonald.

The two hostages were safely extracted from the home, according to the release.
“This was an extremely tense and dangerous situation, but thanks to the swift actions and expertise of our deputies and tactical officers, we were able to bring it to a safe conclusion,” Knox County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Rich Miller said.
“We commend our team and partner agencies for their professionalism and dedication to protecting the community.”
Miller stated that McDonald has “some relation” to the occupants of the Apple Valley home but did not elaborate.
