Glenn Edwin Van Houten Jr. age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Grant Medical Center following a fall at his home. He was born on September 30, 1957, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Glenn and Mary (Bowman) Van Houten Sr.

Glenn was a 1976 graduate of Fredericktown High School and proudly served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1984. Glenn worked in the manufacturing business for over 31 years and when he was not working, he enjoyed fishing, cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. Glenn was loved and will be missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie (Arndt) Van Houten, his stepchildren, Jennifer Hall of Mount Vernon, Stephen Frost of Lebanon, Katrina Edmond of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Alexis Looney, Hunter Looney, Jacob Frost, Taylor Frost, his siblings, Roy D. Van Houten, Melody (Michael) Lahmon, Beth (Richard) Arndt Sr., nephews, Corey Hays, Richard Arndt Jr. and a niece Theresa Knickerbocker.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will observe a memorial service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Glenn Edwin Van Houten Jr.
