MOUNT VERNON — Sixteen common pleas sentences were handed down in Knox County Common Pleas Court in February.
Six sentenced on Feb. 13
Karraghan D. Peters, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to two years of community control on a possession of a fentanyl-related compound conviction. Peters was also ordered to serve 180 days in the Knox County Jail with 120 days served, suspended if Peters successfully completes the Mended Reeds Residential Treatment Plan, among other requirements.
Steven J. Garrad, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a six-year indefinite prison sentence with a maximum of nine years on aggravated trafficking in drugs and forfeiture specification convictions. Garrad was credited 235 days toward his sentence.
Norman Rose Jr., of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to two years of community control on an aggravated possession of drugs and firearm specification convictions. Rose Jr. was also ordered to serve 86 days in the Knox County Jail with 86 days served, among other requirements.
Steven E. Cole, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a 30-month definite prison sentence on an illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a government facility conviction. Cole was credited 171 days toward his sentence.
Caleb D. Syler, of Mansfield, was sentenced to two years of community control on strangulation and two domestic violence convictions, among other requirements.
Cody J.M. Lewis, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to one year of community control on an aggravated possession of drugs conviction, among other requirements.
Seven sentenced on Feb. 20
Nicholas L. Higgins, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a 24-month definite prison sentence on a possession of conviction. Higgins was credited 275 days toward his sentence.
Sherri E. Hess, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to two years of community control on an attempted, endangering children, possession of drugs and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol convictions. Hess was ordered to serve 180 days in the Knox County Jail and was credited 47 days, among other requirements.
Gabriell M. Thornton, of Fresno, was sentenced to two years of community control on operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, having weapons while under disability and a forfeiture specification to the weapons while under disability charge conviction, among other requirements.
David L. Loney, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to one year of community control on an attempted conviction.
Abdulghani M. Mirreh, of Columbus, was sentenced to one year of non-reporting community control on an operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol conviction. Mirreh was also ordered to serve 270 days in the Knox County Jail with 64 days credited. Also subject to a 10-year mandatory operator’s license suspension.
Sir Eric D. Bowles, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to one year of monitored time on an aggravated possession of drugs conviction. Bowles was also ordered to serve 180 days in the Knox County Jail with 105 days credited.
Leroy E. King III, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to two-year indefinite prison term with a maximum of three years on a felonious assault conviction with a forfeiture specification. King III was credited three days toward his sentence.
Joshua A. Shannon, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a four-year indefinite prison term with a maximum of six years on an aggravated possession of drugs conviction. Shannon was also convicted of a forfeiture and firearm specification to count one. Shannon was sentenced a one-year mandatory term on the firearm specification to the aggravated possession of drugs conviction, to be served consecutively and prior to the first prison term. Shannon was credited 237 toward his sentence.
Three sentenced on Feb. 27
Cole T. Baker, of Blacklick, was sentenced to two years of community control on a possession of fentanyl-related compound conviction. Baker was also ordered to serve 180 days in the Knox County Jail with 119 days credited, to be suspended if Baker’s in compliance with supervision, among other requirements.
Adam V. Simones, of Marion, was sentenced to one year of community control on an aggravated possession of drugs conviction. Simones was also ordered to serve 180 days in the Knox County Jail with zero days credited, suspended if Simones is compliant with the supervision terms, among other requirements.
Daniel L. Hawk, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to 180 days in the Knox County Jail with zero days credited on an aggravated possession of drugs conviction. Hawk’s sentence will be suspended if he completes the Knox Recovery Residential Treatment Program and aftercare program, among other requirements.
Updates on closed cases
One of Luanne D. Woolfe’s, of Marengo, aggravated possession of drugs cases was dismissed on Aug. 30. The other was granted intervention in lieu of conviction on Feb. 20..
Mark A. Mott, of Mount Vernon, was granted diversion in his disrupting public services and assault charges on Oct. 23.
On Aug. 26, Jacob R. Stotts, of Mount Vernon, was indicted on one count of domestic violence charge. The charge was dismissed without prejudice on Nov. 21.
On Sept. 9, Frank J. Stoutenburgh, of Mount Vernon, was indicted on one count of vandalism. The case was dismissed Feb. 5.
On Sept.9, Terry B. Wilkinson, of Mount Vernon, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs. The case was dismissed on Nov. 13.
On Sept. 9, Josiah E. Thomas, of Mount Vernon, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs. The case was dismissed on Jan. 6.
On Oct. 21, Erika N. Sargent was indicted on one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle, criminal trespass and driving under suspension. Sargent was granted intervention in lieu of conviction on Feb. 13.
On July 29, Jonathan Hamman, of Mount Vernon, was indicted on one count of rape and sexual battery. A jury trial was held and Hamman was acquitted on both counts on Nov. 22.
