Ronald Aaron, age 81, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 24, 1943, in Blue Ridge, Georgia, the son of Elbert and Ruth (Ballew) Aaron.
Ron was a 1961 graduate of Akron Central High School and later attended Kent State University where he played on the Golden Flashes baseball team. After several years of college baseball, Ron competed in the minor leagues excelling as far as double AA, where he competed with the likes of Thurman Munson and Pete Rose.
Ron entered the workforce after baseball and started his career in the auto industry. An industry where he excelled over the years, first starting with Ed Mullinax Ford. In 1979 he went into business himself after purchasing Salem Mall Lincoln-Mercury and later established Ron Aaron Ford Lincoln-Mercury in Mount Vernon. In 1992 Ron sold his business and returned to Ed Mullinax of Amherst where he played a key role in the visionary sale of that business to Auto Nation, marking the beginning of a new era for dealership acquisitions and ownership. Ron continued his auto career where he worked for Pat O’Brien Automotive of Medina until his retirement in 2008.
With his retirement, Ron found more time to enjoy his personal passions. He was always an avid golfer, proudly carrying a scratch handicap. Ron was also a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge, the Elks of Mount Vernon, and the National Auto Dealers Association. He and his lovely bride Dana enjoyed watching Rock City Church every Sunday.
While Ron enjoyed his professional accomplishments and accolades, his greatest joy in life was spending quality time with his family. He was always eager to support his children and grandchildren at their sporting events and activities. If he wasn’t with his human family, Ron could often be found loving on and walking his dogs.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Dana (Jackson) Aaron whom he married on October 4, 1986, his children, Jessica (Joe) Longo of North Port, Florida, Travis (Stefano Mazza-Maiuolo) Mazza of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Joseph (Hanna Cremeans) Campana of Margate, Florida, Jodi (Charles) Hueston of Woodland Hills, California, Michael (Lisa) Mazza of Howard, Ohio, Tony (Susie Izzo) Mazza of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jenny (Roberto) Presti of Santa Clarita, California, eleven grandchildren, Regan, Joey, Valentina, Romeo, Bailey, Presley, Aron, John, Alexis, Sebastian and Delfina, two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Liam and a brother, Don (Anita) Aaron of North Canton.
