Joan Lea Blanton, age 74, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025.
She was born on September 10, 1950, in Columbus, OH, to the late Charles and Jessie Selander.
She graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1970 and worked various jobs in her career. Joan is a founding member of Covenant Community Church of Newark. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and cherished grandmother. As a pillar of faith she shared her love with all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family, but trust she is now rejoicing with her Lord in Heaven.
Joan is survived by her husband of 32 years, Herman Blanton; brother Michael Selander and wife Melinda of Idaho; sister Ann Shultz and husband Roger of Virginia; her children, Teresa Johnson and husband Timothy of London, OH; Simon Blanton and wife Lynn of Wisconsin, Nicole Roodt of Springfield, OH; Elizabeth Boggs and husband Aaron of Mt Vernon; Sarah Beavers and husband Shawn Zolman of Mt Vernon; also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be on Wednesday starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
