Ruth J. Johnson, age 94, of Gambier passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 2, 1930, in Gambier to the late Walter and Dessie (Ashburn) Tier. Ruth was a member of the Mount Vernon Church of Christ where she was very active and taught Sunday School for many years. She also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. But most of all she loved the time she spent with family, especially her great-grandchildren and would always tell them “I love you forever and ever”.
Ruth is survived by her grandchildren, Robert (Jessica) Koontz, Nicole (Dustin) Montoya-Bartok, Ronald (Alyssa) Koontz; her great-grandchildren, Bridgette Koontz, Aubree Koontz, Charles Koontz, Gabriel Montoya, Ruby Bartok, Annaleigha Koontz; her brothers Dale Tier, Harold Tier; her sister Alice Smith; and her daughter Julie Raymer.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Robert Johnson; her sister Helen Green; and her brother Earl Tier.
Friends may call on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 11:00am – 1:00pm. A service will follow, beginning at 1:00pm, with Minister Ben Driver officiating. Burial will take place at St. Johns Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
