Branch of Service: Army Tech 4 1051st Engineers European African Middle Eastern Campaign
My Father served in the Army with the 1051st Corp of Engineers during WWII, entering Aug. 1942, trained on Tybee Island Georgia, crossing the North Atlantic by boat. His group rebuilt ports and bridges from North Africa, Sicily, Naples, Rome to Rhineland between France and Germany. Exiting La Havre France on the English Channel and arrived at New York Harbor on the Hudson River Oct. 1945. He returned to my Mother who he married in Dec. 1941 and raised 3 boys. Dad and Mom attended many army reunions throughout the country with his fellow soldiers. I worked with my father in the drilling business where he taught me hard work and many things I use to this day. My father was a quiet soft spoken and kind man who I had the utmost respect for. Dad lived with my wife and I from the day my Mother passed. It was our honor to care for him the final years of his life. Dad passed Feb 2023 at 101 years old. I greatly miss Dad and the many years of fishing trips to Canada and Lake Erie.
