DANVILLE Danville dominated the second-half to rally from an intermission deficit and earned a 31-14 victory over Fredericktown on Friday night.

The Blue Devils improved to 7-2 overall, 5-1 in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference heading into next week’s annual Devil Dog duel with arch-rival East Knox.

Danville is still mathematically alive for a KMAC title share, at just a game off the pace. But it’s a longshot after undefeated Northmor thumped Cardington 49-6 on Friday night. The Golden Knights finish their regular season at winless Loudonville.

The Blue Devils will go into the big game with momentum after a stirring comeback.

Fredericktown took a 7-0 first-quarter edge when Blake Sipes tossed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Toombs and Isaiah Brake hit the PAT.

Danville tied the game early in the second quarter, but Sipes gave the Freddies a 14-7 halftime edge on a 4-yard rushing TD just before intermission.

However, the Blue Devils defense put the clamps down from there, and recorded a safety to boot. The Danville offense cranked out three touchdowns in the second half.

Fredericktown falls to 5-4 overall, 4-2 in the KMAC, and will travel to Centerburg next week.
