Betty Jean Talbott, age 91, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home. She was born on May 20, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Horatio and Mildred Freeman. Betty came from a large family of 14 brothers and sisters, most of whom have passed away or lost touch with them.
Betty was a homemaker her whole life, taking care of her loving husband, Menno, for over 64 years and raising their 4 children. She loved decorating the many houses they lived in. Her favorite color was pink. She liked collecting dolls, little baby shoes and Campbell’s Soup kitchen items. She loved listening to her country music and singing right along with them.
Betty was a beautiful lady inside and out. She will be sadly missed by her children, Jeanne (Larry) Bowden of Fredericktown, Ohio, Cindy (Doc) Dean of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Menno (Connie) Talbott Jr, of Mount Vernon, Ohio; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Bonnie Newton.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Menno Talbott; her daughter, Sharon Davis; grandson, Todd Poland.
There will be no calling hours. There will be a private graveside memorial for Betty at a later date.
The family would like to thank the Ohio Eastern Star Home, Iris Neighborhood and Capital City Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Betty. Special thanks to Alice Latham for all the visits to Betty with cookies and candy in hand.
