MOUNT VERNON — Nine people received sentences in August for felony convictions in Knox County.
Aug. 8
- Calvin Bethea, of Mansfield, was sentenced to a 30-month prison term on a domestic violence conviction to be served consecutively with a violation of a protection order conviction where was sentenced to an 11-month prison term. Bethea was given 211 days time served toward his sentence.
- Chad Taylor, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a 15-year to life prison term with 287 days time served toward his sentence on a murder conviction.
- Douglas Milhoan, of Mount Gilead, was sentenced to two years of community control on an aggravated possession of drugs and three forfeiture specifications as to count one. Milhoan must forfeit a single-shot .22 caliber pistol, a Ruger 9MM pistol and $155 in U.S. currency to the Mount Vernon Police Department.
- Laurie Drake, of Mount Gilead, was sentenced to two years of community control for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and aggravated possession of drugs convictions. Drake was also ordered to serve 180 days in the county jail with credit for three days served, among other conditions.
- Summer Rector, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a five-year prison term with a maximum term of seven and a half years on an aggravated possession of drugs conviction. Rector was given 34 days time served toward her sentence.
Aug. 29
- Jason McClung, of Shelby, was sentenced to a mandatory three-year prison term to a maximum term of four and a half years on an aggravated possession of drugs conviction. McClung was given 169 days of time served toward his sentence.
- Harry Grandstaff, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to one year of community control on having weapons while under disability and forfeiture specification conviction.
- Darlene Cross, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a 30-month prison term on a possession conviction. Cross was given 129 days credit toward her sentence.
- Joseph Ball, of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to two years of community control on an aggravated possession of drugs conviction. Ball was ordered to serve 180 days in the county jail with 62 days credited to be suspended on the condition Ball enters and successfully completes the West Central Community Based Correctional Facility Program, among other requirements.
- Ball was also sentenced to two years of community control for an aggravated possession of drugs conviction.
