The City of Mount Vernon will offer a "Shred Day" on Sept. 19, 2024.

MOUNT VERNON—On Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, the City of Mount Vernon will offer a Shred Day to residents, businesses, organizations, and institutions within city limits.

One of the most effective means of safeguarding personal information is securely disposing of unwanted documents. Shredding documents also recycles paper, which is good for the environment.

With those goals in mind – and as a public service as well – the Shred Day event will take place at The Station Break Senior Center, 160 Howard St.

Royal Document Destruction (RDD) will handle the document disposal, which will occur off-site. All documents should be paper only and delivered to The Station Break in boxes.

Each load should be no more than five boxes. Participants will not be limited to a single load, but each load will be assessed a fee of $10.

Residents can pay the fee with cash, check, or credit card. Remit checks to the City of Mount Vernon, noting “City Shred Day” in the memo line.

RDD will accept documents for shredding from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 19 or until the truck reaches capacity, whichever comes first.
