GAMBIER — Gambier council advertised for bids on an expected $300,000 Duff Street waterline project at Monday’s meeting.
A waterline will be replaced on Duff Street from Wiggin to Acland Street, village administrator Ralph C. Wise said. In the years he’s been with the village, Wise thinks the specific waterline on Duff Street has been repaired for leaks four times.
Survey work was completed in July, he said.
Funding for the waterline project is a grant/loan combination from Ohio Public Works Commission to pay for about two-thirds of the $300,000, Wise said.
The village received a $116,500 grant at July’s meeting and an $80,000 interest-free loan.
Wise said the plan is to advertise for the next two weeks and open bids the day of the planned Streets and Utilities Committee meeting.
If the bids fall within the engineer’s estimate, council could authorize the construction contract at the September meeting.
