FREDERICKTOWN — Ackerman Nature Preserve continues to improve — this time thanks to Kokosing Construction.

The preserve received two concrete sidewalks for the bird-viewing blinds. Three concrete pads for picnic tables and benches were installed, too.

The benches and tables are expected to arrive in August, Kathy Daniels said. This was done by Kokosing Construction’s intern capstone project, planned since April.

“This is another example on how Kokosing continues to give back to the community,” Daniels said. “They’re always looking at ways to help.”

More than 60 interns across five states joined last week to pour concrete at the preserve.

“We are very grateful for your work,” Committee Chair Kim Rose said. “You have served the community and Ackerman Nature Preserve well with your contribution.”

Established in 2012 through a generous gift from the Ackerman family to the Fredericktown Recreation District, Ackerman Nature Preserve provides an area for
residents and visitors to enjoy nature.

It includes a 22-acre pond and wetland area on the 52-acre property.

Two bird blinds were added to the preserve in March thanks to donations.
