Michael Rand (Randy) Bowers, age 81, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Randy was born on July 6, 1943, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of Max Conn and Maxine (Wolfrum) Bowers.
He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1961 and married his high school sweetheart, Sharon in 1962. He was hired by the Mount Vernon Police Department in 1966 and remained a dedicated police officer until his retirement as Detective Sergent in 1993. During his retirement, he enjoyed photography and spending the winter in Florida. He also belonged to Mt. Zion Lodge #9 of Mount Vernon, Homestead Club where he served as past president and Gay Street United Methodist Church, where enjoyed being one of their photographers.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Sharon (Earley) Bowers, his children, Jeffrey (Chris) Bowers and Tina (Michael) Doup, three grandchildren, Delaney Doup, Nicholas Bowers, Tony Bowers, and a brother, Steve (Nancy) Bowers of Sarasota, Florida.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lewis Bowers.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Gay Street United Methodist Church, 18 N. Gay Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions in Randy’s name may be made to the Gay Street United Methodist Church.
