Ethan Richard Adkins, a vibrant and loving young man, passed unexpectedly into the presence of a good and loving God on Monday, July 15, 2024, just two days after his 18th birthday. Born on July 13, 2006, in Columbus, Ohio, Ethan filled his short life with laughter, adventure, and an unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
A recent graduate of Granville High School, Ethan was eagerly anticipating his next chapter at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, where he planned to pursue a degree in Biology. His passion for nature was evident in his love for camping and mountain biking, never leaving home without a trusty pocketknife from his prized collection.
Ethan’s zest for life was contagious, and his presence lit up every room he entered. He had a unique talent for bringing people together, creating countless memories through inside jokes and intentional gatherings with his beloved family. His role as a big-hearted protector was evident in his constant preparedness for any situation, a trait admired by all who knew him.
Known for his quirky habit of using post-it notes and his impressive knife collection, Ethan’s interests were as diverse as they were endearing. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and unwavering love.
Ethan is survived by his loving parents, Doug and Jennifer Adkins; his siblings, Erin and Wesley Griffith, Owen and Macy Adkins, and Avery Adkins; his cherished nephew, Everett Griffith; his grandparents, Jim and Vicki Adkins and Shawn and Terri DeWitt; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of Ethan’s life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 4:30 pm at the R.R. Hodges Chapel on the campus of Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Young Life of Licking County; https://.lickingcounty.younglife.org.
