MOUNT VERNON — The Edgewood Road referendum is likely to land on the November ballot.

The Knox County Board of Elections reviewed over 700 signatures for the Mount Vernon referendum.

City auditor Terry Scott, along with law director Rob Broeren and board of elections (BOE) employees, met May 14 asking the BOE to look over between 10-25 signatures for “legal technicalities,” Scott said.

Once the ballot language is created by Scott and Broeren, it’s sent to the Board of Election’s office for review.

Afterward, the ballot language is sent to the Sec. of State’s office for final review, BOE director Jim Blazer said.

“That process usually takes a couple of weeks,” Blazer said. “Then it is sent back to our office to be built into the General Election ballot.”

Mount Vernon residents collected approximately 747 signatures to put a referendum on the Edgewood Road improvement project legislation.
