MOUNT VERNON — In May 2023, Dean’s Jewelry broke ground on a new building at 1573 Coshocton Ave. On Tuesday, the company celebrated the grand opening of its sleek new home with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Dean’s arrived in Mount Vernon 16 years ago. Mayor Matt Starr said it was exciting to see the company expand.
“They saw the handwriting on the wall that Mount Vernon is growing,” he said. “That means there will be a lot more engagements, graduations, anniversaries, and other celebrations.
“Well done on predicting the future,” he told the Turners.
Co-owner Michelle Turner said the ribbon-cutting marks more than just a store opening. Rather, it marks a decades-long journey of continued commitment to upfront pricing, full disclosure, and extraordinary customer service.
“As we gather here, surrounded by the excitement and warmth of our beloved community, it’s essential to acknowledge the profound significance of this moment,” she said.
“For centuries, jewelry has held a unique place in our lives, transcending mere adornment to become symbols of love, milestones of achievement, and heirlooms that carry the stories of generations.”
But Dean’s is not focused solely on offering stunning pieces of jewelry.
“It’s about becoming an integral part of the tapestry of Mount Vernon. We recognize the importance of community, the bonds that unite us, and the collective spirit that enriches our lives,” Turner said.
“In every gleaming gemstone and every meticulously crafted setting, we see an opportunity to foster connections, to celebrate special moments, and to contribute to the vibrant fabric of our town.”
Dean’s Jewelry: A rich tradition
Dean’s Jewelry opened its Mount Vernon store in 2008. The new storefront is larger and more accessible, enabling the company to offer more services and jewelry.
Turner said the company’s commitment to the community goes beyond the displays and designs.
“We pledge to not only serve you with the upmost professionalism and dedication but also to give back, to support local initiatives, and to be a beacon of positivity within Mount Vernon,” she told the group.
“Together we can create something truly extraordinary: A place where not only dreams come true, but where the spirit of togetherness flourishes,” she continued.
“So as we cut the ribbon and open our doors to you, our friends and neighbors, we do so with gratitude in our hearts and excitement for the journey ahead.”
Carol Grubaugh, executive director of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce, presented the Turners with a proclamation from Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.
