The Ohio Express is shown here rocking "Yummy Yummy Yummy" at the 2022 Heart of Ohio USA Days.

CENTERBURG — The USA Days committee will hold a fundraiser on Saturday, June 29, from noon to 8 p.m. to ensure that the festival will operate as usual in 2025.

The event will be held behind Centerburg High School. Parking is available in the front of the school, both side lots, and at the Church of Christ lot.

The “mini-fest” includes many traditional events, such as the Princess Party, Baby Crawl/Toddler Track Meet, the Little Miss Liberty/Little Uncle Sammy Pageant (which is itself a fundraiser), and more. The committee is still working on special things for the youngsters.

Bring chairs for seating. There is a suggested donation of $10 per car upon entering. The gates to the church and school on Route 3 and the gate off Wilson Road will be manned to collect donations.

Crafters need not register but should show up at 8 a.m. to get set up for the noon opening. There is a suggested donation of $25 for each crafter spot. Groups and organizations are encouraged to set up games for all ages.

Regular festival corporate sponsors are donating this year and will be recognized on a big-screen TV throughout the day.

The committee needs the community’s support to attend and enjoy this fun day so it can proceed to next year’s festival. The cost to put on this mini-event is meager, with princesses and bands greatly reducing costs.

D’s Dumpster is providing a free Dumpster. There is no need for porta-johns as the school provides the grounds and restrooms, a savings of $3,500. A stage has also been donated.

Little Miss Liberty/Uncle Sammy

Registration is now open for the Little Miss Liberty/Uncle Sammy contest. Boys and girls aged 4 to 6 are eligible to participate.

Forms must be returned to USA Days no later than May 31.

Votes are calculated at one cent per vote. The winners will be crowned at 5 p.m. on stage at Centerburg High School on June 29.

Winners will ride in the Farm Festival parade on Saturday, September 21, at 10 a.m. and will return to the 2025 festival to crown their successors.

Proceeds will help the USA Days Festival rebound from its major deficit from 2023.
